Hey there, I’m Paul.

I think the best way to learn something, is to write about it, to share it, it forces you to stop and think about what you actually know and don’t know. Amateurism is love, quite literally, it comes from latin and French meaning one who loves. There are a lot of things that we do because we have to, to make money or out of obligation. But I want to do things for no good reason, I’m sick of everything needing to be “productive”. So welcome and if you’re interested in following along, I write all over the map, but some kind of framework here is that I tend to gravitate towards how systems work, human scale things, history that gives us context for the world we live in now, food and building, ecology and climate, books and publishing.

To be an amateur is to be curious, to chase things you love, to create just because you can. These notes follow along with the things I'm excited about.
